(Lord) George Venables-Vernon and Mary Howard

HUSBAND:
George VERNON. (VENABLES-VERNON). Lord Vernon. First Baron VERNON. First Lord of Sudbury and Kinderton.
Born 9 February (1707-1708)(1709-S6); son of Sir Henry VERNON and Anne PIGOTT. He was christened with the name of George Vernon. In 1728 his name was legally changed to Venables-Vernon. He lived at Sudbury, Derbyshire, England.

In 1728 he assumed by Royal license the additional surname of Venables. (S6).

He later sat as a Member of Parliament for Lichfield from 1731 to 1747 and for Derby from 1754 to 1762. (S6).

He married (1) Mary Howard, daughter of Thomas Howard and Mary Wentworth, on 21 June 1733.

He married (2) Anne LEE, daughter of Sir Thomas Lee, on 22 December 1741.

He married (3) Martha HARCOURT, daughter of Simon Harcourt and Elizabeth Evelyn, on 10 April 1744.

On 1 May 1762 he was raised to the peerage as Lord Vernon, Baron of Kinderton, in the County of Chester. (S6).

He died on 21 August (1780-S3,S4,S6)(in 1789-S2).
He was buried on 28 August 1780 at Sudbury, Derbyshire, England. (S9).

He was succeeded in the barony by his son from his first marriage, George. His second son from his third marriage, the Most Reverend the Hon. Edward Harcourt (who assumed the surname of Harcourt) became Archbishop of York and was the grandfather of Sir William Vernon Harcourt and the great-grandfather of Lewis Harcourt, 1st Viscount Harcourt. WIFE (1):
Mary HOWARD.
Born (in 1707)(before 1708)(about 26 April 1710); daughter of Thomas HOWARD, 6th Baron Howard of Effingham, and Mary WENTWORTH. (S16).

She married George Vernon on 21 June 1733. (16).

She died in February (1739-1740)(1740-S6).
Mary Vernon, spouse of George Venables Vernon, was buried on 4 March 1739 at Sudbury, Derbyshire, England. (S10).

CHILDREN of George VERNON and Mary HOWARD::
  1. George VERNON. (VENABLES-VERNON). Second Baron VERNON. Second Lord of Sudbury and Kinderton.(S3). Born 9 MAY 1735. He married (1) Louisa Barbarina MANSEL, daughter of Lord Bussey MANSEL, on 16 July 1757. She died in JAN 1776. (dsps 01.1776, dau of Bussey, Lord Mansel). Note: Louisa Barbera Venables Vernon was buried on 19 March 1786 at Sudbury, Derbyshire, England. (S14). He married (2) Georgiana FAUQUIER, daughter of William FAUQUIER, on 25 MAY 1786. She died 31 MAY 23. George died 18 June 1813. He had a daughter Georgiana VERNON born in 1793 and died 13 SEP 1824; who married Edward HARBORD.
  2. Mary VERNON. Born on 10 July 1736. (S13). Mary Venables Vernon, daughter of George Vernon and Mary, was christened on 6 August 1736 at St. James, Westminster, Middlesex, England. (S13). She married George ADAMS of Orgrave, son of Sambrooke Adams and Janette Anson, on 5 January 1763. He took the name of Anson on 30 APR 1773. He died in 1789.


WIFE (2):
Anne LEE.
Daughter of Sir Thomas Lee, Baron of Hartwell, and Elizabeth Sandys.

She married George VERNON on 22 December 1741.

She died 22 September 1742.
Ann Vernon, spouse of George Venables Vernon, was buried on 2 October 1742 at Sudbury, Derbyshire, England. (S11).

Apparently they had no children.

WIFE (3):
Martha HARCOURT.
Daughter of Simon Harcourt and Elizabeth Evelyn. Simon Harcourt was younger son of Simon Harcourt, 1st Viscount Harcourt. She married George VERNON on 10 April 1744. She died on 08.04.1794. Martha Venables Vernon was buried on 18 June 1808 at Sudbury, Derbyshire, England. (S15).

CHILDREN of George VERNON and Martha HARCOURT:
  1. Henry VERNON. (VENABLES-VERNON). Third Baron Vernon. Third Lord of Kinderton.(S3). Born 18 April 1747. He married (1) Elizabeth Rebecca Anne SEDLEY, daughter of Sir Charles SEDLEY, on 14 February 1779. He married (2) Alice Lucy WHITEFORD, daughter of Sir John WHITEFORD, ON 29 November 1795. He died on 20 March 1829.
  2. Catherine Vernon. She was christened on 17 September 1749 in the Parish Church of Sudbury, Derbyshire, England. (S8).
  3. Elizabeth VERNON. (VENABLES-VERNON-S3). Born in 1750. She married General George E. MALCOLM on 26 SEP 1765. He dsp 20.04.1809. She died 25 January 1826.
  4. William Vernon. William Vernon, son of George Venables Vernon and Martha Vernon, was buried on 18 June 1756 at Sudbury, Derbyshire, England. (S12).
  5. Edward VERNON. (VENABLES-VERNON-S3,S4). Later Harcourt, Archbishop of York. Born on 10 October 1757. Christened on 6 November 1757 in the Parish Church of Sudbury, Derbyshire, England. (S7). He married Anne LEVESON-GOWER, daughter of Granville LEVESON-GOWER, on 16 November 1832. They had 15 children. He died on (5 February)(8 November) 1847.
  6. William VERNON. Born 1780.[?]. He died in December 1790.
