George Vaughan and Elizabeth Bassett

HUSBAND:
George VAUGHAN. [PC M3].
Born 24 July 1709 in Portsmouth, Newport County, Rhode Island; son of John VAUGHAN and Elizabeth BULL. (S8).

He married Elizabeth BASSETT on 26 September 1736 in East Greenwich, Rhode Island.

George and Elizabeth purchased one hundred and fifty acres of land on the Exeter Town Line.

His father John died some time between 1743 and 1751. In John's will, to his son George he bequeathed a chest, plough irons and the fifty acres he already had use of. The Will was proven on 9 September 1751.

George died on 21 March 1780 in West Greenwich, Kent County, Rhode Island. (S8).

WIFE:
Elizabeth BASSETT. [Our Basset Ancestors], [Familytree].
Born 5 March 1708 in East Greenwich, Kent County, Rhode Island; daughter of Samuel Bassett and Elizabeth Jones. (S6,S8).

She is often said to be the daughter of Samuel Bassett and Alice Weaver. However, Samuel Bassett and Alice Weaver were married on 18 April 1728, whose daughter Elizabeth Bassett was born on 28 December 1729. {S4}. Therefore we need to go back about 20 years to find our Elizabeth's parents.

She married George VAUGHAN on (26)(27-S8) September (1736)(1737-S8) in East Greenwich, Kent County, Rhode Island.
