Clive Vernon Tenney and Minnie Williams

HUSBAND:
Clive Vernon TENNEY. [Familytree].
Born on 2 August 1895 at Nutrioso, Apache County, Arizona; son of Warren Moroni Tenney and Ella Ann Hamblin. [Birth Certificate].

Clive enlisted in the military in 1917. On his enlistment papers, Clive is noted to be tall, slender, with blue eyes and sandy colored hair. He is listed with the rank of Wagoner, and with Service Number 1630341.

He married Minnie Williams on 30 January 1918 at San Diego, San Diego County, California.

Clive departed for Europe from New York on 11 August 1918, on the Ship Laomedon. [I expect he didn't know then that the original Laomedon is said to be his ancestor].
He was in a Supply Company of the 158th Infantry Regiment, of the 79th Infantry Brigade, of the 40th Division.
The 158th Regiment acted as the guard of honor to President Woodrow Wilson during his visit in France in 1918. The regimental band marched and performed in the Allied Victory Parade which President Wilson attended.
The 40th Divison was activated on 18 July 1917 as a National Guard Division, having been created from the California, Nevada and Utah National Guards. It was sent overseas on 3 August 1918, and was re-designated as the 6th Depot Division, whose mission was to receive, equip, train and forward replacement troops to the more experienced combat divisions. The Division returned to the United States on 30 June 1919, where it was deactivated.

Clive returned from the port at Brest, France on 24 June 1919 on the ship Huntington, and arrived at Boston, Massachusetts on 5 July 1919. He then had attained the rank of Corporal. He went from Boston to Camp Devens in Massachusetts. Clive was discharged from the military in 1919 at the Presidio in San Francisco, California. [Military Discharge].

He worked as an agent for the border patrol between the United States and Mexico.

He died 2 August 1960 at San Diego, San Diego County, California.

WIFE:
Minnie WILLIAMS. [Familytree].
Born on 25 December 1896 at Clifton, Greenlee County, Arizona; daughter of George William WILLIAMS and Harriet THURSTON.

She was said to have been given a patriarchal blessing when she was about 2 years old by Patriarch Martineau in the Colonies in Mexico. She was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 15 September 1905.

She married Clive Vernon Tenney on 30 January 1918 at San Diego, San Diego County, California.
