John Robie and Ann Corliss

HUSBAND:
John ROBIE. [Familytree].
Born 2 February 1648-1649 in Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire; son of Henry ROBIE and Ruth MOORE.

John moved to Haverhill, Essex County, Massachusetts in 1675. He lived in that part of the town that fell into New Hampshire at the establishment of the Mitchell line. His house was within the limits of the present town of Atkinson.

He married Ann CORLISS on 1 November 1677 in Haverhill, Essex County, Massachusetts.

John Robie was killed by Indians near Haverhill, Essex County, Massachusetts on 16 June 1691; just fifteen days after his wife's death. Thus they left seven children orphans, none over twelve years of age. It appears that the children went to live with his brother's family, Samuel Robie and Mary Page, in Hampton, Rockingham County, New Hampshire. Some of the children, in particular Ruth, Joanna, Sarah and Mary are sometimes said to be the children of their grandparents, Henry Robie and Sarah Shaw, so apparently they sometimes stayed with the grandparents as well as their uncle Samuel. At the same time that John was killed, his son Ichabod was taken prisoner, but later escaped.

WIFE:
Ann CORLISS. (Anne) [Familytree].
Born 8 November 1657 in Haverhill, Essex, Massachusetts; daughter of George CORLISS and Joanna DAVIS.

She married John ROBIE on 1 November 1677 in Haverhill, Essex, Massachusetts.

She died on 1 June 1691 in Haverhill, Essex County, Massachusetts.
