James Hamblin, Jr. and Mary Dunham

HUSBAND:
James HAMBLIN, Jr. (Hamblin-S6)(Hamlin-S1)(Hamblen-S8). [CHART A1].
Born (about 1636); son of James HAMBLIN, Sr. and Anne SCOTT. He was christened on 10 April 1636 at St. Lawrence, Reading, Berkshire, England.

He probably came with his parents to New England in 1639. {S?}. (He came to America with his mother and sisters prior to 1642-S9).

They settled in Barnstable, Massachusetts.

He married Mary DUNHAM on 20 November 1662 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. (S6).

He was a farmer. (S9).

He resided first at his fatherís Cogginís pond lot. (S9).

He was an inspector of the "ordinarys" in Barnstable for the prevention great abuse by excessive drinking. (S6). He was on the grand inquest of 6 JUN 1682. (S6).

On 23 January 1683 he is named in his fatherís will. (S6).

He and his wife were members of the church in 1683. (S6).

He moved to Hamblinís Plains, West Barnstable in 1702. (S9).

He served as a representative in 1705 (S6).

His will was written in 1717. (S6). He died 3 May 1718 at Tisbury, Dukes County, Massachusetts. (S6, S7).

Mary DUNHAM. [CHART A1].
Born about (1642-S6)(1643)(8 MAY 1645-S8) at Plymouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts; daughter of John DUNHAM Jr. and Mary. (S6).

She married James HAMBLIN, Jr. on 20 November 1662 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.

She died 19 April 1715 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts, age 72 (S6).

  1. Mary HAMBLIN. Born 24 JUL 1664 at Barnstable, Barnstable County , Massachusetts. (S6). She married Benjamin HATCH on 17 JUN 1678 at Falmouth, Barnstable, Massachusetts. She died in NOV 1698.
  2. Elizabeth HAMBLIN. Born (13-S8)(14-S6) FEB (1664-1665-S8)(1665-1666)(1666-S6) at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. She married John SCUDDER. She died in JAN 1742-1743 at Chatham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.
  3. Eleazer (Eleazar-S6, S8) HAMBLIN. Born 12 APR 1668 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. (S6). He was a twin of Experience. (S6). He married Lydia SEARS, daughter of Paul SEARS. He died 20 MAY 1698 at Yarmouth, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.
  4. Experience HAMBLIN. Born 12 APR 1668 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. (S6). She was a twin of Eleazer. (S6). She died in 1717 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.
  5. James HAMBLIN. Born 26 AUG 1669 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. (S6). He died 22 JUN 1743 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.
  6. Jonathan HAMBLIN. Born 6 MAR 1670-1671 at Barmstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. (S6). He died 22 JUN 1743.

  11. Hope HAMBLIN. Born 3 MAY 1679 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. [I think this is the same Hope as above, but source 8 lists them separately.]
  12. Job HAMBLIN. Born 15 JAN 1681 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. (S6). He died 3 JUL 1750.
  13. John HAMBLIN. Born 12 JAN 1683 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. (S6). His will was written in 1734. He mentioned his nephew, Reuben HAMBLIN.
  14. Benjamin HAMBLIN. He was christened 16 MAR (1683-1684-S8)(1684-1685-S6) at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. He died in 1738.
